Mason High School Junior Eric Wisniewski Overcomes Exam Conflict to Dominate Hoosier SCCA Super Tour at Mid-Ohio, Extends FE2 Points Lead

Lexington, OH – May 18, 2025 – Eric Wisniewski, a 17-year-old junior at Mason High School in Mason, Michigan, overcame a scheduling conflict with his AP Physics exam to deliver a commanding performance at the Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA® Super Tour at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on May 17-18, 2025. Competing in the Formula Enterprises 2 (FE2) class, Wisniewski swept the weekend, securing pole position for both races, winning Saturday and Sunday, and breaking the track lap record by nearly half a second. His stellar results further solidified his substantial lead in the 2025 Hoosier Super Tour FE2 points standings, bringing pride to his Mason community.

The Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA® Super Tour is a premier amateur road racing series organized by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), the largest amateur motorsports club in the U.S. with over 65,000 members. The series features ten high-profile race weekends at iconic tracks like Sebring International Raceway, Road America, and Mid-Ohio. Each event includes two races per Runoffs-eligible class, with points awarded to the top 20 finishers (25 for first, 21 for second, 18 for third, down to 1 for twentieth). A driver’s best six Super Tour races, plus their finish at the SCCA National Championship Runoffs® (September 29 – October 5, 2025, at Road America), determine the season’s class champions. Known for its competitive fields and professional production, the series offers live streaming on SCCA’s YouTube channel and SCCA.com, with expert commentary bringing the action to fans worldwide.

Wisniewski’s Mid-Ohio triumph came despite a scheduling conflict with his AP Physics exam at Mason High School. Thanks to the assistant principal’s intervention, the exam was rescheduled, allowing Wisniewski to compete in Friday’s qualifying sessions. His focus paid dividends as he posted the fastest lap, earning pole position for both races on the 2.4-mile, 15-turn Club Course. On Saturday, Wisniewski dominated the FE2 race, breaking the track lap record by nearly half a second. Sunday saw another commanding victory and the fastest race lap, thrilling spectators at the Ohio Valley Region-hosted event.

“This weekend was unforgettable,” said Wisniewski. “Mid-Ohio’s track is so challenging, and breaking the lap record was a huge moment for me and my team. Balancing school and racing wouldn’t be possible without the support of Mason High School, and I’m so grateful to Hoosier Racing Tire, Mazda Motorsports, the SCCA, and REMAX Commercial Group for their incredible commitment to young drivers like me. Their support is helping me chase my dreams and push for the championship.”

Wisniewski’s Mid-Ohio sweep marks his sixth consecutive victory in the 2025 Hoosier Super Tour, bringing his season total to seven wins and nine podium finishes in the FE2 class. His dominant performance has given him a significant lead in the FE2 points standings, positioning him as a frontrunner for the 2025 championship. In 2024, the FE2 title was decided by just three points, with Russell Turner edging out Caleb Shrader. Wisniewski’s current streak, bolstered by his runner-up finish at the 2024 Runoffs, makes him a strong contender for the 2025 title and a potential Summit Racing Equipment SCCA Road Racing Super Sweep award, recognizing drivers who win a Runoffs race, a Hoosier Super Tour Points Championship, and a U.S. Majors Tour Conference Points Championship in the same class.

The Mid-Ohio event, held May 16-18, 2025, featured over 240 entries across seven race groups on a freshly repaved circuit renowned for its technical layout and storied history with the SCCA National Championship Runoffs®. Despite challenging weather, including overnight thunderstorms and a brief shower during Saturday’s qualifying, Wisniewski excelled in his SCCA Enterprises FE2 Mazda, a spec racecar designed for close, driver-focused competition.

As Wisniewski returns to Mason, Michigan, he’s preparing for the next Hoosier Super Tour event at Road America (June 6-8), with his sights set on the SCCA National Championship Runoffs® at Road America later this year. Fans can follow his journey live on SCCA’s YouTube channel, the SCCA Road Racing Facebook page, or at scca.com/live for timing and scoring.
