Whitney Strickland Takes Masters Cup Points Lead into FR Americas Finale at Barber Motorsports Park
No. 21 TF Companies / Hillenburg Motorsports driver leads by 16.5 points with two races remaining; Masters Cup champion to be honored at Sunday banquet
LEEDS, Ala. (October 9, 2026) — Elevate Motorsports Marketing is proud to announce that Whitney Strickland and Hillenburg Motorsports will head to Barber Motorsports Park October 16–18 for the Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) season finale as the Masters Cup points leader. Strickland, driver of the No. 21 TF Companies Ligier JS F3, holds 141 points to the 124.5 of Kevin Janzen, a 16.5-point advantage with two races left on the calendar.
The Masters Cup is FR Americas’ program for drivers age 35 and over. Masters Cup drivers race on the same grid and for the same overall podiums as the rest of the field, while competing for their own season title. The driver with the most Masters Cup points at season’s end receives a trophy and a contingency package at the Champions Banquet, which this year takes place Sunday, October 18,.
Strickland, of League City, Texas, and Chairman of TF Companies, has built his lead in his first season of FR Americas competition. He swept the opening two Masters Cup races at NOLA Motorsports Park, won both races at Road America and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and added victories at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, New Jersey Motorsports Park and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, for 10 class wins in all.
The lead has not gone unchallenged. Janzen, of Crosslink Motorsports, won both Masters Cup races at VIRginia International Raceway last month and has five class victories this season. With the overall Driver Championship decided at VIR, the Masters Cup is one of the title fights that will be settled at Barber, a 2.38-mile, 16-turn road course in Leeds, Alabama. Strickland and Hillenburg Motorsports will take to the track for the two finale races on Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18.
“We came into this season with one goal, and that was to bring the Masters Cup championship home for the TF Companies team,” said Strickland. “Going into Barber with a points lead is exactly where we wanted to be, but 16.5 points is not a guarantee in this sport. Kevin and the Crosslink crew have been fast, so we’re going to treat both races like we’re chasing the lead, stay disciplined and finish what the whole Hillenburg Motorsports team has worked on all year. I can’t thank the Hillenburg crew and everyone at TF Companies enough for getting us here.”
Live timing and scoring for the Racing America @ Barber weekend will be available on the Race Monitor app. Fans can follow the championship battle on the series’ social channels and at FRAmericas.com.
